Stavros lives in Greece and this is first double CDr. It was recorded at home and will be ready in a few days in 100 copies. He's involved in music over 20 years but never made something solo except a couple cassetes in the 80's. This is a small text could describe him:

""Love, hope, sorrow, joy, despair, awe ...
particles from the stellar dust which has created us.
A train started (....) years before and has traveled the most intense emotions to a world a little more personal through this "dust" which continously caresses our souls and our bodies.
and the journey continues
and probably will never end."

Ben Wildenhaus - Instrumental Quaalude (podcast)

Reçu un mail de Benjamin Wildenhaus / Received a mail from Benjamin Wildenhaus:

I had been composing the instrumental music and structures for the post-rock band Federation X when I started to explore improvisation and loose structure through country music, Arabic music, and other traditional and experimental musics.
I continue to record and perform in Brooklyn, NY using a variety of instruments: fretted string instruments, keyed instruments, pedal steel, etc.
These are the things that interest me as a performer/recorder:
0) the product of all instruments is some noise. It is always different.
1) creating 'folk' melodies that will be disbursed in various musical settings until the author is no longer known.
2) exploring the imagined realm of the musical Orient that the west has created. This music has no relation to music from asian or middle eastern regions, instead stemming from the French image, "Kradoudja, ma maitresse," and the American image from Ellingtonia, "Caravan."
3) playing quietly and creating useful music. Performance venue behavior is predictable and useless: audience watch the performer; performer perform. The expectation forces the performer to make choices maybe he or she should not. Allow room for gradual musical/sonic development or disintegration and for subtle physical encroachment of sound within the performance space.
4) intricate or deliberate compositions and recordings are for physical mediums such as vinyl, cd, cassette. Incidental recordings, improvisations, and composition fragments are for fluid, disposable mediums like the mp3 or podcast.
The podcast Instrumental Quaalude is an effort to capture such incidental recordings, improvisations, and composition fragments as they happen. There is too much music available on the internet for a listener to successfully collect and preserve. The mp3s delivered through this podcast are disposable, to be heard once, to be useful only in the moment of their capture and their release, their recording and playback. Then they recede into the annals of internet hell, alienated from virality by a lack of clicks.

Little selection of his works:

"Week Twenty-seven": Piano plays a 4/4 chordal backing. Destructed sine waves ruin accordion melody. Bass enters to compliment the piano while the sine waves attempt to ruin everything. For Johanne Fück. (4 minutes, 12 seconds).

"Week Nineteen": Week Nineteen first oscillates between Dbm/Ab and Abm/E. In the bridge the chords Ebm7/Db, Gm, Db/Gb repeat before returning to the previous two chords. There is also a melody. Performed by SG. (5 minutes, 10 seconds)

"Week One": The decaying tones of the SG provide the repetition for slipping pedal steel notes. Performed by showbud pedal steel and SG electric guitar. (5 minutes, 13 seconds).

Alasdair Roberts - Ayrtime.org EP (Ayrtime, 2010)

Un petit interlude folk dans nos programmes, reçu un mail de Chris Dooks qui a produit un EP pour Alasdair Roberts / A little folk interlude in our programs, received a mail from Chris Dooks who just produced an EP for Alasdair Roberts....

Recorded on the 2nd of April 2010 in Alloway, close to Burn's Cottage, produced by Chris Dooks. Thanks to The University of The West of Scotland, Eleanor Dooks and Bar Libertine.

If you weren't at this gig then you missed a real treat. Alasdair gave us a cracking hour and twenty of his ghostly ballads, middle-age tunings and communication with the ancestors. It was completely beautiful. And not only that, Alasdair and Ayrtime recorded this wonderful EXCLUSIVE four track digital EP especially for us! This EP features an unreleased track and also a preview of Roberts new album 2010's 'Too Long In This Condition'. The Man was on the cover of The Wire magazine for goodness sakes!

The E.P. is free for all Ayrtime punters and beyond.

VULP-0013 is Natural Snow Buildings’ first release of 2010, the free-for-download double LP The Centauri Agent! On part one, the 41 minute “Our man from Centauri” sets the stage, a cosmic, sprawling opener with themes that continue on into “The accidental remote viewer”, before fizzling out into static. Lovely and intricately woven as ever, while frequently heading off into new and challenging sonic territory, Mehdi and Solange have created yet another very special work of musical art with The Centauri Agent!

Sean McCann - Flutter Oasis (Digitalis, 2008)

1 Untitled
2 Untitled

by request

Another crazy limited cassette release. This one from a name we'd never heard before, Sean McCann, but judging from this tape, we'll definitely want to be hearing more.
The sound is super distorted and in-the-red, lo-fi and warbly, like it was recorded on some old thrift store tape on a busted up tape recorder, the guitar being the focal point, but rendered in numerous un-guitar-like sounds and setting, simple strums are distorted to the point of complete collapse, strange effects make the tape sound like it's skipping, vocals howl and croon, everything super washed out.
Some tracks are warm and whirring and warbly, almost old timey sounding, everything shimmery and dreamlike, circus like melodies, kitchen sink percussion, and a soft focus patina of fuzz and buzz and whir, the tape continually slowing to a crawl, or skipping and hiccupping like the stop and record buttons getting pushed, others are dense and chaotic, but with the same sort of sun dappled summer dreaminess, the distortion and the tape drop outs as much, if not more of, a part of the sound than the actual instruments.
Noisy, but that sort of soft noise, dreamy, but not sleepy, instead a sort of druggy bleary eyed drift, think lo-fi folk or pop, via Merzbow, filtered through Philip Jeck and Tim Hecker, recorded by Faxed Head, and played back on a Dictaphone with dying batteries plugged into a massive P.A. with blown speakers. So cool.

Salivary Stones is Chris Rehm's latest album and it was released by Chinquapin Records on cassette on January 16th.
Chris experiments with elements of drone, ambient, noise, and on the last song, "Soggy" he sings on an ambient-turned-bedroom folk songs that explodes at the end.

Pelt - Skullfuck / Bestio Tergum Degero (VHF Records, 2006)

1 Calais To Dover 20:34
2 Bestium Tergum Degero pt. 1 17:26
3 Bestium Tergum Degero pt. 2 5:10
4 Bestium Tergum Degero pt. 3 1:56

Limited edition live CD released for the band to sell on their 2006 European tour. Contrary to the Grateful Dead reference in the title, “Skullfuck” is a tight recording of a single, intense November 2005 performance from NYC’s Knitting Factory. The set begins with an epic group arrangement of Jack Rose’s “Calais To Dover,” (from his Kensington Blues LP) with Jack’s 12 string shadowed by Mike Gangloff’s fiddle, and the thick drone of Mikel Dimmick and Pat Best’s Harmonium and Sruti’s. The three part “Bestio” suite follows, with the group moving to Tibetan bowls and gongs, building up a huge sheet of sound which peaks in a brief “encore” of wild gong smashing.

Pelt - Ayahuasca (VHF Records, 2001)

1-1 True Vine 16:42
1-2 Deer Head Apparition 26:57
1-3 The Cuckoo 6:06
1-4 Deep Sunny South 4:33
1-5 Raga Called John, Pt. I 12:10
2-6 The Dream of Leaping Sharks 21:06
2-7 Bear Head Apparition 10:48
2-8 Will You Pray For Me 3:29
2-9 Raga Called John, Pt. II 25:39
2-10 Raga Called John, Pt. III 6:12

A sprawling follow-up to 1999’s critical and commercially successful release Empty Bell Ringing In The Sky, Ayahuasca represents the most comprehensive survey of Pelt activities to date. Recorded over a period of more than two years at various live and studio sessions, the double CD shows the heavily-bearded trio broadcasting from some lesser-known and newly-discovered corners of the drone-omniverse. Most striking about the record is the inclusion of several traditional tunes, arranged for the group’s eclectic instrumentation. While the band has been performing some acoustic material for several years and let some sneak out on the limited edition For Michael Hannas CDR, Ayahuasca is the first release to fully explore this part of their repertoire. "The Cuckoo" and ‘Deep Sunny South" are traditional Appalachian numbers, played and sung with considerable skill and feeling. The sawing bowed acoustic guitar on "The Cuckoo" and the rolling banjo and Tibetan bowl accompaniment on "Deep Sunny South" draw a direct line between raw/folk music traditions and the deep, visceral drone music that Pelt have specialized in over the past several years. Combining the two styles neatly, "A Raga Called John" features Jack Rose’s very, very fine country-blues/Fahey-influenced fingerstyle guitar over a shifting backdrop of hurdy-gurdy and concertina, before giving way to tanpuras overrun by fretless banjo. Of course, on top of all of this easily comprehensible music there’s plenty of ear-cleansing ecstatic drone, from the two long flotation-inducing trios for bowed electrics and Esraj to the wall-shaking electric hurdy-gurdy mania of "Bear Head Apparition." Truly a record for our times, such as they are.

Obviously quite concerned with the evil state of the American government, but still morbidly fascinated with the celebration of it in holidays, these purveyors of moody ambience return with a solid collection of improvised pieces. Ranging from the bluesy but drugged “Song to Ward Off Evangelicals” to the never-ending sonic waves of “grain” found on “Music to Read Voting Guides By”, Election Day is one release worth voting for again and again.

High atop this haunted mountain in old Los Angeles comes a sound both frightening and inviting.
Moving further away from the holiday themed titles, this seems to dedicate itself to a place AND a time.
Recorded outside, but definitely manipulated inside, this acoustic/electric affair is a truly cybernetic synthesis of our modern world. Acoustic guitars and banjos collide and juxtapose nicely with looped keyboards and feedbacking Jew’s Harps and harmonicas.

Ghosts Brames of the Cerf's Magickal - For Ever Hang thy Dreamy Spell, Round Mountain Star and Heather Bell (Ruralfaune, 2006)

01 For Ever Hang thy Dreamy Spell, Round Mountain Star and Heather Bell 21:33

for me, this record is the soundtrack to many wonderful evenings since i first got hold of it. sitting and being lulled into places of your own imagination by the beautiful chord organ drones, and these two repeating guitar notes just pinning you there throughout till the pieces chaotic end. i urge you all to keep an eye out for more Ghost Brames releases. their static aero cd-r on leaf trail was one of my favourite records last year, and you can still buy it now.

"Having lifted the title of this majestic 3” CD-R from Anne Brontë’s poem “Memory,” this newly formed French duo aim to recreate the innocence of childhood as filtered through the human mind’s imperfect memory. Florian Tositti (The Reggaee) and Jacob Garet (undisputed master of the ‘Magick Skull of Noise,’ whatever that may be) have created the perfect 21-minute prescription for losing touch with the present and rediscovering the purity of unsullied youth. Multiple looped guitar patterns are interwoven and laid upon a blanket of drone, while a flute dances carelessly overhead. Frequent crescendos are followed by the development of new musical ideas, proving that GBCM (a fitting acronym, no?) are adept at creating engaging long form soundscapes. This is indeed another stunning release for the Ruralfaune label, an imprint that continues to explore fresh terrain in the global psychedelic underground. Cheers to them for discovering the spellbinding sounds of GBCM.
